In most virtualized environments, we require the following as the minimum amount of resources for the virtual machine hosting the Senergy Engine component:
- 3 GB memory
- 2-4 processor cores
Please note that depending on server load, usage patterns, network topology, and other factors, these minimums may be insufficient for Senergy to function in production. You may need to allocate more resources for Senergy to work as desired in your particular environment.
Generally speaking, our Agent component can run on any file server, and the Event Monitor component can run on any server in your forest.
The Senergy Engine, Agent, and Event Monitor services require one of the following operating systems and the listed services:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 or later
- .NET 4.5.1+ Full installation
- Membership in an Active Directory domain
For Cross-Empire Data Migration purposes, the Agent may also be installed on a Windows 7 or Windows 8 workstation OS. This is not recommended in most instances, but may be helpful as a temporary measure in certain CEDM circumstances.
SQL Server Requirements
The Senergy Engine also requires SQL Server 2012+ (Express Edition or better). In most cases, SQL Server Express will suffice for the Engine; however, if a more robust SQL Server installation is already available or is necessary, any version of SQL Server 2012 or later will work with Senergy.
The Senergy Agent, Event Monitor, and Admin Client do not require direct access to a SQL Server instance.
Novell Client for Cross-Empire Data Migration
If Senergy is licensed for Cross-Empire Data Migration, the latest Novell Client available for the Engine server's operating system and each CEDM Agent's operating system must be installed to take advantage of CEDM. All of Senergy's Active Directory functionality is available with or without the Novell Client, and if CEDM is not included in your Senergy license the Novell Client is not required.
